1. Indoor Water Park Wilderness in the Smokies
The indoor water park features rides, slides a giant wave pool, and plenty of things for the little ones to do. The fun doesn’t stop there, they also have rope courses, laser tag, climbing walls. All for a terrific value, the waterpark is generally included in your hotel stay. And go ahead and bring Dad, they have a golf course too. You can find additional discounts during Winter. 2. Tennessee Aquarium Chattanooga Aquarium
Home to one of the most diverse gatherings of freshwater animals in the County! Now that’s saying something. Sharks, jellyfish, dolphins, penguins, frogs, butterflies…. Imagine a raindrop that flows from a mountaintop stream to a trickling creek, travels into a slow river, and finally joins a massive ocean. The Tennessee Aquarium offers an up-close look at the habitats found along this amazing journey.
3. Louisville, Ky
Just a short 2 hours 45 min drive from Nashville, Tn. Louisville has a lot to offer. The Louisville Zoo This is a truly remarkable zoo for a small –> mid-sized zoo. The grounds are immaculate, food is affordable, exhibits diverse and the property VERY walkable. Kentucky Science Center They’ve got some of the coolest, funniest, wackiest — and sometimes gross-est and smelliest things. You could easily make a getaway weekend trip out to Louisville.
4. Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
This is the world’s longest known cave system, with more than 400 miles explored. Early guide Stephen Bishop called the cave a “grand, gloomy and peculiar place,” but its vast chambers and complex labyrinths have earned its name – Mammoth. Just 1.5 hours from Nashville, this could easily be a getaway day trip!
5. Discovery Park Union City, TN
A world-class entertainment and educational experience with more than 70,000 SF of exhibits focused on nature, science, technology, history, and art; and 50-acres of gardens, grounds, and exhibits focused on history. Just under three hours this would definitely be worth the drive for a getaway on a rainy Saturday.
