COMMERCIAL MOVING COMPANY TIPS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

Here are some tips business owners need to do when moving premises.

Tell all your employees about the move

This is just the first step. Your employees will need some time to process and plan before your commercial moving company shows up. Ideally, you should do this a few months beforehand. Under extreme situations, a few weeks will be sufficient. Try to be open and transparent with staff, as some could be concerned about a change in their commute. The more you communicate with them, the more time they will have to adjust.

Tell your customers

Should your business receive a lot of customer foot traffic, then you need to start telling them as soon as possible. You can do this by advertising your move a least 4 weeks in advance. Flyers in store and announcements on social media should be able to spread the word. Your customer service team if you have one should be ready to answer any questions or concerns your customers may have about the move.

Draw up a checklist for your employees

Your employees will be glad of this. As you start to plan for what has to be done logistically, make sure you write down what every employee can do to help ease the moving process. For example, if everyone has to clean their desks by a specific date? What will they have to bring with them and what stays behind? These are questions you have to think about. Once you have a better idea, send a memo or an email to everyone. Try to do this at least 2 weeks before the move.

Preparing the furniture and electronics

When you are moving computers, you need to do this in an orderly fashion. Make sure you remove all cables carefully and place in a ziplock bag which is numbered which corresponds to the computer it goes with. Any vital data on your computers need to be properly backed up also. As a business, your priority is to protect your data.
