April 27, 2023

Creating a set up box can save you from a pretty big headache!

One of the biggest things I hear from customers after a move is, "I can't find the hardware to my...." When you are preparing for your move, everything goes into a box. Now imagine a bunch of boxes that all look the same sitting around  your new home.  Now look around, see all the furniture that needs to be put together?  Uh oh.  We have a very simple solution, the set-up box.

Designate one small box as your set-up box.   set up box

Supplies Needed:

  • Gallon Size Ziploc baggies
  • Marker
  • Post it notes

As items are dis-assembled put the hardware in a designated baggie, write what it goes to on the sticky note and close it up.  Make sure it is sealed, and place it in your set-up box. Done. Continue to do this with everything that needs to be taken apart.  Beds, mirrors, table tops, etc. When you are done, place the tools you used in the same box.

When you get to your new home, you will easily be able to find the hardware to everything in the same box along with the necessary tools to put everything back together again quickly.

It doesn't matter if you dis-assemble the furniture or let the movers do it.  A set up box can save you so much time and headache at your new home.
