When it comes time to get ready for your move , the single most important thing you can do to expedite your move is be prepared! This starts with packing, most customers pack themselves. Before you get started it is a good idea to gather all of your supplies, so how are you supposed to know how many supplies you need? Good question, in fact I recently had a customer ask me this question, and the light bulb went off, new blog post! Love it when my customers help me out.
Start out by answering some simple questions.
1. How long have you lived in your current home.
1-5 years, 5-10 years, 10+years
2. Do you have an average amount of items or more like an average amount plus plus plus some stuff?
As a general rule the following guidelines can be followed when packing for your move
Kitchen:
5 Large, 15 Medium (Large boxes for Tupperware, blenders, mixing bowls, pots, etc)
Dining Room:
10 medium (China or fragile glassware takes a lot of bubble wrap which takes space)
Living Room:
5 Medium 2 large
Bedroom:
2 Medium 1 Wardrobe
Bath:
2 Medium
1 newsprint, 1 small bubble, 1 shrink-wrap, 4 rolls tape.
This is what we use most to pack and move a typical 3 bedroom home when the customer has lived in their home 5-10 years, two adults two children. Some areas to think about when adjusting this list are if you have a lot of trinkets, glass ware, or glass collections.
Hope this helps in planning your next move !
